Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement from tennis, with the upcoming Davis Cup Final in Spain being his last tournament as a professional player. A video posted on Nadal's official social media channels revealed the news on 10th October 2024. In it, the Spaniard said: "I'm here to tell you that I'm retiring from professional tennis. "It's been a rough few years, especially the last two. I haven't been able to play without limitations.

The USA basketball Men's National Team (USABMNT) won their first warm-up game since their roster for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 was confirmed. In the showcase exhibition clash in Las Vegas, the U.S. beat Canada 80-72. Stars including LeBron James and Steph Curry were among the first five to start for Team USA, with their bench players - who are all NBA all-stars - then gaining valuable international experience later in the game. Kevin Durant missed out due to a calf strain.
