Another hot one is underway this Tuesday afternoon across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as the Queen City cracked 90° for only second time so far in 2025. The mercury only rises higher into our Hump Day; temperatures soar into the mid-to-lower 90s across the Piedmont and Foothills on Wednesday, aided by southwesterly winds and plentiful sunshine. Short-range models keep most of the Carolinas dry, although a few storms may fire up in the mountains and Foothills later in the day.

Summer is just four days away – and Mother Nature isn’t waiting for the official go-ahead to unleash scorching heat upon the Carolinas. Highs will regularly soar near or above 90° across the Piedmont and Foothills this week as stifling humidity levels push heat index values into the triple digits. Pop-up thunderstorms will be our only source of relief from the torrid temperatures, but rain chances largely trend downward through Wednesday.

Happy Father’s Day! The heat and humidity only surge higher from here. Highs will soar into the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills on Monday as partly-to-mostly sunny skies and southwesterly winds make themselves at home across the Carolinas. Temperatures will steadily crawl into the lower 90s around the Metro by midweek, with isolated pop-up storms being the only source of relief from the heat. Heat index values may approach 100° in the Queen City on Wednesday and Thursday.

We’ve made it into the heart of June – and Father’s Day weekend – and it certainly feels like it. Highs will soar near 90° in the Queen City once again Sunday afternoon as scattered thunderstorms fire up in the afternoon. Dad’s big day won’t be a washout, but a few heavy storms may roll through the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as a Level 1 (out of 5) risk for severe weather is posted northeast of the Metro.

Rain chances are back on the rise after a quiet Wednesday for most of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as a stalled front disintegrates over the Carolinas. Pop-up afternoon scattered storms are in the forecast through Father’s Day weekend as highs hover around the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills. While the heat will be manageable, the humidity becomes downright atrocious.

PLEASE DON’T DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS. Charlotte Fire conducted a water rescue along N Tryon St & E 16th Street tonight after a vehicle attempted to drive through several feet of water. Fortunately, the sole occupant was retrieved with only minor injuries. #CLTwx #NCwx https://t.co/cX36k1P1kK
