Sunny skies and stiff southwesterly winds have shoved temperatures into the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills this Monday afternoon, but our newfound warmth won’t last long. A cold front will push into the Carolinas from the northwest by Tuesday morning, bringing noticeably cooler temperatures, but not much in terms of rain; any shower activity to start the second day of the workweek will be limited to the High Country.

Temperatures have struggled to get out of the 50s and 60s this Sunday afternoon, but summer-like temperatures jump into the Carolinas to kick off the workweek. Strong southwesterly winds will push temperatures well into the 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills on Monday while the High Country enjoys highs closer to 70º. The newfound warmth won’t last long as a cold front approaches from the northwest.

Just one more chilly night. Frost Advisories are in effect for most of our Piedmont and Foothills counties this Saturday night as lows will dip into the 20s and 30s across the board. Mecklenburg, Union, Chester, Chesterfield, Lancaster, and York counties are advisory-free this evening, but pets and plants should still come inside. Highs cruise near 70° around the Metro Sunday afternoon as winds shift out of the southwest.

Scattered showers and storms are slowly – but surely – clearing the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as we head into our Friday evening. Cooler and drier air filters into the Carolinas overnight into Saturday morning, but not before a few snow showers roll through the High Country. Lows will dip into the 20s, 30s, and 40s across the board to kick off the weekend.

Overcast skies have returned this Thursday afternoon ahead of tonight’s rain. Scattered showers and storms will continue off-and-on throughout the overnight hours into our final day of the workweek. While Friday won’t be a washout, it’ll be far from the stunning day we saw on Wednesday. A low-end severe threat will close out the workweek for areas east of the Metro; we’re mainly watching for heavy gusty storms that may produce some small hail.
