Pret A Manger owner JAB Holding is working with advisors on plans to bring in new investment to the business, including the potential of an potential initial public offering (IPO). JAB Holdings acquired Pret A Manger for £1.5b in 2018 and is now looking at options of a listing and a stake sale, according to reports in the Financial Times.

Caprice Holdings has reported a 30% rise in revenue to £97m, driven by new openings including Sexy Fish in Manchester. The Richard Caring-backed group that comprises 10 sites including Bacchanalia, J Sheeky and Daphne’s, registered a pre-tax loss of £5.9m in the year to 31 December 2023, down from a profit of £1.15m the year before. As administrative overheads rose by £25m to £81m, adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation fell from £12m in 2022 to £10m in 2023.

A one-off collaboration dinner and hosted by Alain Roux with friend and neighbour Heston Blumenthal has raised more than £70,000 for good causes. The event at the Waterside Inn was held to celebrate 40 years of three Michelin stars at the iconic restaurant (1985-2025) along with 30 years since the Fat Duck first opened and 21 years since it was recognised with three Michelin stars (2004-2025).

Chef Tommy Banks is to launch a new pub group with its first site opening in North Yorkshire this summer. The General Tarleton in Knaresborough will be the debut venue for Jeopardy Hospitality, a new business created by Banks alongside Matthew Lockwood, his brother James Banks (pictured) and businessman Neil Armstrong. When it opens in late summer, the pub will include eight-bedrooms, a private dining area, large bar and beer garden.

Compass Group has reported revenues for up 8% to £17b for its H1 trading period, driven by growth in business and industry and sports and leisure. The catering giant said that operating profit was up by 11.6% at £1.22b for the six months to 31 March 2025. During the period it reported securing new business worth £2.7b and added that it had a “strong client retention rate of over 96%”.
