Hey Friends,As you probably know, we stopped charging for Substack subscriptions in 2023. Substack used to only allow us to turn off the paywall in timed increments (one year at most) so on the backend we would re-pause charges every year. It looks like the paywall reactivated on March 15th, and a few hundred accounts who had been subscribed years ago were automatically charged again.

As Henery investigates the coop, he discovers that his chickens have been slaughtered.

Writer James Tynion IV and artist Joshua Hixson are absolutely a wonderful collaborators and this horror fueled book is truly something excellent. I love what they accomplish here, and I have to say that I am impressed with the absolutely original premise. It is well thought out and well executed. The only problem that I have with the book is that this first volume is way, way too short.

I won’t be at San Diego Comic Con this year - I’ll be in the pool instead. I’m in one of those funny in-between places - I’ve started ramping up on my new projects, but they’re not ready to be announced yet. So, I’m taking the time this year to let myself just…chill. To work on those projects that have a longer tail, enjoy the peace and quiet, and save my energy for Dragoncon, which is always my big end-of-summer hurrah.

It has a very accessible story to the whole thing that makes it easy to dive in. Plus, it has an ongoing mythology to the book as well. Basically, it is an updated and newer and sleeker version of the X-Files with very strong and powerful stories that never let up.

DSTLRY is getting a new series underway with the December 11th, 2024 debut of The City Beneath Her Feet. The new book is priced at $8.99 for the first issue which comes in at 48 pages. It has James Tynion writing it with artwork by Elsa Charretier and color design by Jordie Bellaire while Aditya Bidikar handles the lettering. The release has a cover by Charretier which you can see below. Tynion has a strong list of credits to their name such as the Batman books and Something Is Killing the Children.
