Maryland State police have arrested two people linked to what has been described as a transgender vegan anti-artificial intelligence murder cult in connection with a string of homicides nationally, including several deaths in California, two in Pennsylvania, and the shooting of a U.S. border patrol agent in Vermont earlier this year. Jack "Ziz" Lasota, 34, and Michelle Zajko, 32, were taken into custody.

The Food and Drug Administration has officially banned Red No. 3, an additive that gives food and drinks a bright, cherry-red color, following similar 2023 and 2024 moves in California. The FDA announced on Wednesday that it had amended its color additive regulations, no longer allowing artificial Red No. 3 use in food and ingested drugs.

LOS ANGELES — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake rocked the San Joaquin Valley late Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Service said, jangling nerves as Southern Californians prepared for bedtime. The quake was centered in Lamont, California, about 21 miles from Bakersfield, California. It struck at about 9:09 p.m. PST. No injuries or damage were immediately reported. The quake was followed by dozens of aftershocks ranging from 3.7 to 4.7 magnitudes.

We knew it was bound to happen: Warehouse giant Costco will raise its membership fee starting Sept. 1 in California and the rest of the country. For Costco's U.S. and Canada Gold Star members, a basic individual membership costs from $5 to $65. For those with an executive membership, the price increases from $10 to $130 ($65 for the primary membership and $65 for the executive upgrade). The annual 2% reward that executive membership earns will increase from $1,000 to a maximum of $1,250.
