KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Westbound I-70 west of I-470 is closed because of an overturned tractor-trailer. The Missouri Highway Patrol says the semi overturned about 1:30 a.m.The Highway Patrol says there are injuries, but the extent is unknown at this time. MSHP believes the road will be closed for hours. In addition to westbound I-70, the 291 southbound exit to I-70 westbound, as well as the northbound I-470 exit to I-70 westbound are closed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Police are looking for a suspect in a homicide in the Northland. Police were called to the 4000 block of North Bennington on a reported shooting just after 10 p.m.When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot at an apartment building. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Police say he died at the hospital just after 11:30 p.m.Police say no one is in custody. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Police say one woman was killed and a second woman injured in a homicide in south Kansas City. Police were called to an apartment in the 600 block of East Minor Drive on a disturbance call about 11:30 p.m.When they arrived, they found two women inside an apartment with unknown injuries. Police say one of the women was alert and had what appeared to be minor injuries. She is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for Friday morning through Friday evening. It is for portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central and west central Missouri, which includes the Kansas City metro. According to the alert, damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are also possible. Travel could also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a bicyclist. Police say the crash happened about 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of 23rd Street and Lee's Summit Road. Police say a Ford Focus was traveling eastbound and hit the bicyclist. The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene, but police say the driver later contacted dispatch to report their involvement. The bicyclist is in the hospital and remains in critical condition.
