The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce is on the look for a new chief executive director. On Tuesday, April 15, Leslie Courchesne announced she’ll be stepping down as leader of the non-profit organization that serves businesses and groups in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. Courchesne, a Port Moody resident, joined the Chamber in August 2021 to replace Michael Hind, who had held the post for 11 years.

The musical lineup is out for the May Days party in Port Coquitlam. And this year’s celebrations to honour the 102-year-old city tradition includes a new entertainment stage at Leigh Square — just for kids. From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, families can walk over after the Rotary May Day parade to hear songs from Choral Connections, The Coyotes and Baron Band, as well as see acts from West Coast Circus.

As bears start to wake up and other wildlife peek out this spring, Coquitlam Mounties are reminding residents to be alert and to lock up their garbage. The detachment is advising homeowners and tenants to secure their trash and not to put out compost, recycling or garbage bins until collection day. As well, RCMP is asking the public not to feed wild animals as they’ll become habituated and will return for more — placing danger in neighbourhoods.

I’m running because I believe strongly that our country needs change so we can restore Canada as the best country in the world to live, build a career, open a business and raise a family. My wife and I have two young children and we are very concerned that the Canada they are growing up in will not provide the same opportunities and quality of life that we had.
