Studies in patients with heart failure have indicated that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors increase iron use and enhance erythropoiesis. In this post-hoc analysis of the CREDENCE trial, we evaluated the effects of canagliflozin on iron metabolism in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and whether the effects of canagliflozin on hemoglobin and cardiorenal outcomes were modified by iron deficiency.

By evaluating published emulations of oncology RCTs studies in which both the active and comparator groups are sourced from RWD and target trial results are available for benchmarking, this systematic review aims to gain insight into factors related to emulation performance. Thirteen oncology emulation studies using various types of RWD were identified through an online database search of PubMed through 2022.

However, epidemiologic studies assessing the interrelation of vitamin D-related biomarkers with hypertension are sparse. We examined the prospective associations between vitamin D-related biomarkers and risk of hypertension in a nested case-control study.

This cross-sectional study was based on a quantitative survey administered online between November 7 and November 21, 2022. The study included individuals in the United States who were either pregnant or had been pregnant within the past 12 months, were aged 18 years or older, and possessed at least an eighth-grade level of conversational proficiency in English. Participation in the study was voluntary and responses were collected anonymously.

This study used observational healthcare data from administrative claims and electronic health records (EHR). These type of data generally do not include dedicated cognition tests, genetic or imaging data, and commonly used variables such as education, which have previously been found to be predictive. However, studies have shown good internal validation performance when developing models on observational data and also found enhanced model applicability in real-world settings [10].

To facilitate development of new therapies for this heterogenous disease, a public–private partnership was formed between the nonprofit Amyloidosis Research Consortium and the US Food and Drug Administration Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
