On Thursday, the City of Las Vegas filed a motion to dismiss a case that claims city marshals are allegedly operating outside of their jurisdiction. In March, 13 Investigates broke the story of Derek Myers, an Ohio journalist who filed a class-action lawsuit claiming Las Vegas city marshals arrested him illegally, far outside their jurisdiction.

During a company earnings call on Tuesday, CEO Craig Billings said tariff rates are too uncertain to move forward with the project right now. LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man who stabbed an off-duty police officer to death on the Las Vegas Strip has been sentenced. The incident happened in March 2022. Police say Freddy Allen got into an argument with Tyler Steffins, an off-duty police officer who was visiting Las Vegas from Washington state, over how a dog was being treated. According to Las Vegas police, the two argued on a pedestrian bridge on Friday and then met again on Saturday night and got into a fight.

On Wednesday, Yoni Barrios was officially sentenced after agreeing to plead guilty to 15 different counts, including an act of terrorism, murder with use of a deadly weapon, and attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Las Vegas woman has filed a new lawsuit accusing former NFL player and current podcaster Shannon Sharpe of multiple sexual assaults. According to the lawsuit, the two met at a gym in Los Angeles in 2023. The plaintiff, only identified as Jane Doe, states Sharpe would not leave her alone and "over the following weeks, Sharpe made himself unavoidable". Eventually, the complaint states the woman gave in to Sharpe and gave him her phone number.
Nevada gaming regulators fine MGM $8.5 million due to illegal bookmakers

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Another casino company is being fined by the Nevada Gaming Control Board due to illegal bookmakers operating at their properties. Last month, I told you that state gaming regulators had fined Resorts World $10.5 million, the second-largest fine in Nevada gaming history, due to illegal bookmaking activities. On Friday, the Nevada Gaming Control Board announced a proposed settlement has been reached with MGM Resorts International over similar concerns.
