Quicker Than ExpectedWhere the Trailseeker surprises is its powertrain — a dual-motor setup for standard all-wheel drive is expected, of course, but its total output is an estimated 375 horsepower, more than the 338 hp that the 2026 Solterra produces in the XT trim. Interesting Power ChoicesUnlike all other Kias and related Hyundais on the E-GMP platform (the two companies share a lot of parts, platforms and technology), the EV4 is the first model to offer only a single electric motor (no all-wheel-drive option is available), and that motor is mounted up front. Everything else in the automaker’s lineup is rear-wheel drive, but I’m not mad about the EV4 being a FWD vehicle.

How Has the Outback’s Interior Improved? The previous Outback’s cheapish interior with the ancient gauges, terrible vertical touchscreen and integrated touch-sensitive buttons for the climate controls was another one of our gripes, and those complaints have also been completely addressed. The 2026 Outback’s new interior is fantastic and a total rethink of the old Subaru look, and all of the interior bits have been upgraded over the old model.

What Does the 2026 Outback Look Like? With its newly upright grille, floating body-color C-pillar trim panel and steeper rear window, the seventh-generation Outback is hard to confuse with its predecessor. Subaru says the new vehicle’s flatter roof contributes to increased front and rear headroom, as well as 2 cubic feet more of cargo room, for a total of 34.6, according to Subaru’s measurements.
