Charlie Ward’s first FAMU signings have been announced, and one of them is the son of a former Pro Bowl wide receiver in the NFL. Anquan Boldin Jr., son of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin Sr., has committed to transfer to the Rattlers from the University of Buffalo. The Boldin family adds another member to the HBCU, DJ Boldin, uncle of Boldin Jr. and brother of Boldin Sr., who is a wide receivers coach at South Carolina State.

The Florida Memorial men’s basketball team is now in the market for a head coach following reports that current position holder Delano Thomas is stepping down from the role. Thomas was hired by Florida Memorial in March 2023, filling a role left vacant by previous coach Ansar Al-Ameen, who left to take a job as an assistant coach with the University of Nebraska at Omaha women’s basketball team.

Former Arkansas-Pine Bluff quarterback Mekhi Hagens is moving from the SWAC West to the SWAC East. He has committed to play for Alabama A&M, with two years remaining eligibility. Initially entering the transfer portal in December, Hagens announced his intention to transfer to Lamar in February. Before committing to Lamar, the SWAC quarterback received offers from Southern, Howard, South Carolina State, and Prairie View A&M.

Following a successful 2024 season that saw her be named the MEAC Newcomer of the Year, Morgan State forward Naya Ojukwu is heading to the ACC to play for the University of California, Berkeley. Ojukwu transferred to Morgan State after one-year stints at the University of Utah and Gonzaga, respectively. She averaged 17.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 15 games (she missed the first two months of the season) and was named to the All-MEAC Second Team.
