What started as a website focused on sports information for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has transformed into a prominent source for all things related to HBCU sports. Launched in 1997 as The SWAC Page (swacpage.com), it was rebranded to TSPN Sports (tspnsports.com) in 2007 and finally adopted the name HBCU Sports in 2014. Today, HBCU Sports stands as one of the most popular websites dedicated to HBCU athletics, attracting over 1.4 million visitors in 2020 alone. Our platform has gained recognition from various well-known media organizations across North America, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Deadspin, and The Huffington Post. HBCU Sports is fully owned and managed by Rashad Interactive, LLC.

Longtime Morehouse men’s basketball coach Douglas Whittler is moving to Columbia, South Carolina, to become the Yellow Jackets’ next men’s basketball coach.     Following the departure of former women’s basketball coach Tierra Terry, who was hired to take over a similar role at Winston-Salem State, the Virginia Union Panthers have announced her successor. Longtime HBCU basketball coach Alico Dunk becomes the 10th head coach in the history of the Virginia Union women’s basketball program. A former student-athlete at the University of Tennessee and East Carolina, Dunk began coaching in 2003 as an assistant on the Elizabeth City State men’s basketball team.

    Clark Atlanta’s bid for its first SIAC football championship in nearly half a century will move on without its leading receiver from last season. Armone Harris, an All-SIAC selection, has announced he is moving to the CIAA, transferring to Johnson C. Smith in his senior season. Harris initially entered the transfer portal in April, reportedly receiving offers from Alabama State, Alabama A&M, UTEP, Youngstown State, and Jackson State.
