A Wyoming nonprofit that advocates for fair elections and transparent government requested that a federal judge immediately halt enforcement of the state’s new proof of U.S. citizenship requirements to register to vote. The Equality State Policy Center filed its motion for a preliminary injunction May 23 in federal district court — two weeks after the initial complaint against Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray and all 23 county clerks responsible for carrying out elections.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be hosting a public meeting Wednesday to share the progress on the proposed improvements to the Wyoming Highway 22 corridor. The meeting is the third in a series and will focus on the environmental analysis and design of the improvements. It will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Teton County Fairgrounds Community Building.

A 42-year-old California woman arrested May 19 near Highway 22 was charged with misdemeanor stalking and interference with a peace officer, according to court documents. The arrest came one day before Wyoming lawmakers began considering new penalties for adults who stalk minors, after hearing from two Glenrock families whose children had endured over a year of adult harassment and emerged dissatisfied with Wyoming’s stalking penalty system.

The values Scott Crisp leans on as a leader were shaped at home. His mother was an advocate for more than 50 years for victims of crime. Crisp, the incoming interim superintendent of Teton County School District, said in a letter to members of the community that she rose to leadership at a time when few women held such roles. She received two U.S. Presidential Awards for her service.

A “makeshift treehouse structure” defaced with graffiti, including antisemitic and racial slurs, was discovered by Teton County School District officials and removed from school property. The structure was found on school grounds in a field near Jackson Elementary School and reported by a parent May 15, according to Charlotte Reynolds, executive director of communications and school district services. She said the district is trying to determine when the structure was built and by whom.
