(WTNH) — A Waterbury gang member was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, Monday for offenses relating to his involvement in the 960 gang. Police identify bicyclist struck and killed by vehicle in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Main Street in Hartford on Monday evening, according to police. The victim was identified as Nicholas Thompson, 42, of Hartford, police said. At around 7:31 p.m., Hartford Police officers responded to the 2000 block of Main Street and found a bicyclist unresponsive in the roadway, authorities said. Officers began life-saving measures until EMS arrived.
Man in stable condition after shooting in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred in the area of 1046 Capitol Avenue on Friday afternoon. According to police, at approximately 3:22 p.m., officers responded to an area hospital for reports of a gunshot victim arriving for treatment. The victim, a man in his 20s, received treatment and is listed in stable condition. The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are investigating the incident.
Police investigating homicide in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Police are investigating a shooting homicide in the area of 84 Vine Street in Hartford on Tuesday night. Police said that officers responded to a call of shots fired just before 7 p.m. Responding officers found a man in his 40s unresponsive in the roadway. EMS were called to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

(WTNH) — An investigation determined an altercation at Wallace Middle School earlier in March was motivated by religion/ethnicity, meeting the legal definition of a hate crime, according to Waterbury Police. Twin sisters, who are Muslim, alleged they were attacked based on their religion. News 8 previously reported that Farham Memon, The Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said he girls were bullied for two weeks leading up the assault.
11 displaced after fire at multi-family home in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — No one was injured as a three-story, multi-family home caught fire in Hartford on Wednesday evening. The Hartford Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at 205 Cornwall Street in the Blue Hills neighborhood. Upon arriving on the scene the fire was active and heavy on the front porches of all three stories. The fire had extended to the interior of each floor, but was quickly knocked down and extinguished.
