Great question Richie Alan Naggar. My perspective as a Lender is as follows: I think you would have quite a difficult time getting in touch directly with the Underwriter (whether you "insist" or not). Respectfully, that's one of the main reasons you align with a reputable Loan Officer who is both proficient with underwriting guidelines and accountable enough to be the proactive & communicative liaison between Underwriting and the interested parties of the escrow in question.

As we settle into the 4th quarter of 2023, there are several unsettling trends including (but not limited to) high mortgage rates, low housing inventory, civil unrest in the Middle East, and a looming presidential election roughly 1 year away.

Don't Assume the Assumption!One of the bright spots of the recent COVID-19 inspired global pandemic was the sharp decrease in mortgage rates. After all, bad news for the economy is good news for mortgage rates (and vice versa). The historic spike in unemployment filings and sharp decrease in consumer confidence clearly qualified as “bad news” and subsequently led to the lowest mortgage rates we are likely to experience in our lifetimes.

In case you haven't heard, we have some major controversy brewing yet again in the mortgage industry. The topic is that effective 5/1/23, there will be significant changes to the "pricing adjustments" levied to Borrowers on Conventional (aka Conforming) Loans. Essentially, HIGH FICO Borrowers will pay MORE than they are currently paying, and LOW FICO Borrowers will be paying LESS than they are normally paying.
