PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria Police have said no one was injured aboard a school bus after a crash Tuesday afternoon. Officers were called at 4 p.m. for the crash that happened in the 2300 block of North Sterling Avenue. It is currently not known how many kids were aboard the bus but no injuries were reported. Both directions of Sterling between Nebraska and Newman are currently closed. Further details are currently not known.

WASHINGTON (25News Now) - The Department of Justice says the State of Illinois and six universities have suspended a minority-only scholarship program after a lawsuit threat from the department. The universities named in a DOJ press release are Northwestern University, Loyola University of Chicago and the University of Chicago.

PEORIA (25News Now) - A Peoria man was charged in Peoria County court Thursday for alleged criminal sexual assault of someone under the age of 18. Leroy Mackey, 53, was charged for the alleged crimes which the Peoria County Stateβs Attorney said happened nearly four years ago, with the victim now coming forward. Mackey was ordered released during a detention hearing Friday and was ordered to have GPS electronic monitoring, no contact with the victim and no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

PEORIA (25News Now) - A man who allegedly kicked in the door of a Peoria home and led police on a chase in a stolen car was arrested. Peoria Police said 33-year-old Ishmiel D. Gates was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting police, home invasion, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving and other traffic violations.
