The empty shop in Devizes (Image: Newsquest) An offer has been made to take over one of the most prominent buildings in a Wiltshire town. The Hen House businesses in Devizes, including Hen House Brides, Hen House The Gallery, and Fox in the House on St John’s Street, all closed suddenly last December. The announcement shocked shoppers and since then the now empty properties have been marketed in an attempt to find new occupants.

An air ambulance landed (file photo) (Image: Newsquest) Police have confirmed the death of a woman in her 70s after emergency services swarmed a Swindon street. Multiple 999 crews, including paramedics, police, and a Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, were spotted on Kingshill Road at around 10am on Friday, April 11. The air ambulance charity confirmed it had sent a critical care doctor and a critical care paramedic to a cardiac medical emergency via helicopter.

Across the Bank Holiday weekend there will be alterations to rail services running through Wiltshire. The line likely to be most impacted by this is the London Paddington to Wales service which runs through Swindon.

Police are investigating (file photo) Two men have been arrested following a “violent disorder” in a Wiltshire town centre. The incident took place near the fountain in Devizes Market Place at around 7pm on March 17 when police say two men became involved in a “physical altercation.” Two men have since been arrested in connection with this incident, but a police investigation remains ongoing.

4 1/1 Roadworks set to continue for weeks have caused traffic on a key route through Swindon. Wales & West Utilities have been operating multi-way temporary traffic lights on Highworth Road, near The Rat Trap pub and the A419, since Monday, April 7. These restrictions, which are in place while crews from the utilities firm carry out unspecified work at the scene, are due to remain in place until May 9.
