Compared To Other Speakers The JBL Flip 7 is the smaller sibling of the JBL Charge 6, which, despite the lower number, is actually from the same generation of portable speakers. Due to its larger size, the Charge 6 houses a larger battery, effectively doubling how long it lasts compared to the Flip 7, and the Charge 6 is capable of greater low-end extension for a bit more even bass. You can even mate them up using Auracast for Party Boost Mode, or add a second Flip 7 instead for a stereo pair.

Compared To Other Headphones Many of the closed-back audiophile headphones we've reviewed are either purpose-built studio headphones with less bass emphasis or considerably more expensive than the FIIO FT1, like the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO or the Focal Elegia. We've only reviewed open-backed HiFiMan headphones, so while the closed-back Sundara model might be a competitively-priced alternative, we haven't tested them.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants The SteelSeries GameBuds come in PlayStation ('Black' or 'White') and Xbox ('Black') versions. Our unit is the PlayStation variant in 'Black' (here's the label), and we expect the 'White' PlayStation colorway to perform similarly. Although many functions likely crossover between the PlayStation and Xbox variants, such as mobile app compatibility and the basic design, we've only tested the PS variant, so our results are only valid for this version.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants The Samsung HW-Q990F is also known as the HW-Q990F/ZC and HW-Q990F/ZA, and while we expect these models to perform similarly, some features may be regionally available. It comes in ‘Black’ (also called ‘Titan Black,’ depending on your country), which is more of a deep grey or soft black than the pure black of the last generation. You can see the label of our unit.

Despite the brand name of CMF, the earbuds use their parent company's Nothing X app, which works with Android and iOS. Its functionality is goodโ€”in use, it's very similar to the Nothing Ear (a) with EQ presets and a three-band EQ, while lacking the more comprehensive graphic EQ with Q-factor supported on the Nothing Ear. If you want even more bass, you can choose Ultra Bass to augment any of the EQ presets. Take a look at the tour of the app.
