A year ago, the Charlotte area produced multiple girls’ soccer state champions. Davidson Day (2A) and Providence Day (4A) won N.C. Independent School championships. Christ The King (2A) and Marvin Ridge (4A) won public school titles. The 2025 season kicks off Feb. 24, and area schools appear primed for another banner season.

Kasey Dingman, Lake Norman girls’ indoor track: The Wildcats’ junior ran a personal-best 2 minutes, 55.68 seconds to win the 1,000-meter run at the Fast Track Invitational in Winston-Salem on Jan. 25. Dingman was the Charlotte Observer girls’ cross country runner of the year last fall.

Granger Bartee, Providence Day swimming: The Chargers’ senior swam a personal and school record time of 21.48 seconds to win the 50 freestyle at the Queen City Relays at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center on Jan. 4. Bartee, a University of North Carolina commit, also anchored the 200 butterfly relay to victory (22.78 split) at the same meet.
