The potential sighting has since been verified as false by multiple sources. Missouri State University football senior Todric McGee passed away at a local hospital early Saturday morning, according to a press release by MSU Athletic Communications. Per the release, McGee sustained injuries at his residence on Friday, but details from the incident remain under investigation by local authorities. "Our football family is in shock and in mourning at the loss of (McGee)," said Bears head coach Ryan Beard in the statement.

The Missouri State men’s basketball team fell to the Illinois State University Redbirds 70-54 on Thursday, ending the team’s season having played just one game in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Bears went out ahead early in the first half with a 7-1 offensive run, but two treys and a layup by Redbirds’ sophomore guard Johnny Kinzinger quickly narrowed the gap just six minutes into the first half.
