On Thursday, the league announced game times and dates for the three weeks of preseason play, which begins with the July 31 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The Detroit Lions are the designated home team in the Hall of Fame Game and will play the Los Angeles Chargers. The game begins at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBC.

The Indianapolis Colts and NFL community showed an outpouring of support in the wake of Colts owner Jim Irsay's death Wednesday. In a statement, the Colts said Irsay died peacefully in his sleep. He was 65 years old. Irsay started as a ball boy for the Colts in 1972 when his father, Robert Irsay, purchased the team, then based in Baltimore.
