Dove Drive shooting suspect to appear in court Monday One of the seven men charged in a deadly shooting on Dove Drive in June 2023 will be in court for a status hearing at 9 a.m. Monday at the Boone County Courthouse in front of judge Hasbrouck Jacobs. Deazez Turner, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action after the death of 33-year-old Deshon Houston. According to online court documents, Turner entered a not guilty plea in November.

Columbia teenager to be sentenced Thursday for 2023 murder 18-year-old Jermarion Burnett-Howard is set to be sentenced by a Boone County judge Thursday, after pleading guilty to felony murder and a gun charge of a 72-year-old woman. Burnett-Howard pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the death of Janet Jago in spring 2023. Authorities say Burnett-Howard accompanied his uncle, Jermaine Burnett, in an apparent armed robbery attempt.
