The folks at Washington-based Cascade Components are known for producing aftermarket linkages for popular mountain bikes to adjust the kinematics and, in some cases, even add a bit more rear travel. Now, the company is taking things to another level with their $1,995 Stumpjumper High Pivot Conversion kit. “Our engineer wanted to change the axle path of the bike, and then it just cascaded into more and more. No pun intended,” Max Piltz told us at Sea Otter last week.

The new Starling Clutch stem takes a retro approach to dressing up your cockpit, though it’s every bit a piece of cockpit jewelry like the others. Known for their bespoke steel full-suspension and hardtail mountain bikes, UK brand Starling is making the Clutch stem out of steel, rather than aluminum, which is a far more common choice.

The brand is being tight-lipped about the prototype, which is shown here mounted to what appears to be a Pivot Firebird, an enduro bike that is normally specced with a 170mm fork. The Racing Applications Development (RAD) fork was also spotted mounted to an Orbea Wild electric trail/enduro bike.

At Sea Otter this week, Praxis showed a prototype gearbox drivetrain they’re calling Hinged Transmission or HiT. Developed by the brand at their Santa Cruz, California office, HiT features a patented, hinged design that can be configured to offer between four and 16 speeds. The video below shows the system in action. According to the Praxis website, “HiT can be applied to a variety of different types of bicycles such as DH, mountain, pavement and cargo.

California-based Stinner Framworks is known for high-quality custom steel and titanium bike frames, and now, the company is making its Tunnel hardtail mountain bike available in four stock sizes.
