20 Years AgoSHIPPENSBURG — Five of the six qualifiers from Clearfield competed against the best that the rest of the state has to offer on the first day of the PIAA State Track and Field Championships Friday at Seth Grove Stadium in Shippensburg. Only Tanner Kelly has yet to compete, as the AAA boys long jump began today at 12:30 p.m.The girls 3200-meter relay team of Cassie Mulhollem, Julie McCracken, Mariah Priest and Rebecca Shiner were the first of the area participants to compete Friday.

CLEARFIELD — Last week’s Primary Election went smoothly and there were no major issues, Clearfield County Solicitor Heather Bozovich reported at yesterday’s commissioners meeting. Commissioner Dave Glass agreed and said in his opinion, it was probably the smoothest election the county has had since he became commissioner six years ago. He said the only issue was they had to re-scan the ballots at the Oklahoma precinct. “But we jumped right in and got that done in like 15 minutes,” Glass said.

CLEARFIELD — Julie Samantha Peters, 36, of Clearfield, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of children charges and forgery and was sentenced to jail by Judge Paul E. Cherry last week at Plea and Sentencing Court. Peters pleaded guilty to two counts of endangering the welfare of children — a felony of the third degree; and forgery — a misdemeanor of the first degree; and would serve a minimum of seven months in prison, according to Assistant District Attorney Brittany McCracken.

CLEARFIELD — Taylor Chantel Slogosky, 34, of Philipsburg, who caused a crash while driving without a license that seriously injured two people, accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to state prison by Judge Paul E. Cherry Friday at Special Plea and Sentencing Court. Slogosky had two separate plea agreements involving seven separate cases.
