CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield Area Board of School Directors voted unanimously Monday evening to appoint Tammy Young of Clearfield to fill the vacant seat on the board. School board members, Paul Sayers, Susan Mikesell, Shawna Rothrock, Eric Cummings, Gail Ralston, Timothy Duke and Kate Wood voted in favor of Young’s appointment — Mary Anne Jackson was absent. Following the vote, Young was sworn in by President Sayers and took her seat on the school board.

CLEARFIELD — The Progressland area was hit with a quick burst of thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon as wind gusts in the mid-60 mph range caused plenty of damage and power outages. According to Aaron Tyburski from the National Weather Service’s State College office, temperatures were in the high 70s and low 80s as a cold front then began moving into the area that first started in the western part of the state. “As the front came through, it set off a line of thunderstorms,” Tyburski said.

CLEARFIELD —The state Community Development Block Grant, which funds infrastructure projects in local municipalities could be on the chopping block by the federal government, according to Executive Director Lisa Kovalick of the Redevelopment Authority of Clearfield County. The CDBG block grant provides funds on an annual basis to municipalities to fund infrastructure projects in areas whose residents that meet low to moderate income guidelines.
