    CURWENSVILLE — Chief Mark Kelly of the Curwensville Borough Police Department has resigned from his position after 17 years of service. At Monday’s meeting of the Curwensville Borough Council, Mayor Tim Hoover announced Kelly submitted his letter of resignation on May 7 and his resignation was effective May 7. Hoover read Kelly’s resignation letter at the meeting.

    DuBOIS — Penn State University released a statement Monday evening saying “no decision regarding any campus is final” after a report was published listing seven possible commonwealth campus closures –including DuBois. The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing “multiple sources,” reported on Monday Penn State administrators are proposing to close seven branch campuses, including DuBois, Fayette, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, and York.

    CLEARFIELD — Zackary Scott H. Jenkins, 21, of Clearfield, agreed to plead guilty to sexually assaulting a female at Colloquy Court before Judge Paul. E. Cherry on Monday. Jenkins pleaded guilty to a sexual assault charge graded as a felony of the first degree and would serve a minimum of 54 months in state prison, according to Deputy District Attorney Tami Fees. Jenkins will also have to follow all of the requirements under Megan’s Law, she said.

    OSCEOLA MILLS — A Liberty Tree dedication ceremony took place on Saturday at the Osceola Mills Public Square as part of the multi-year celebration for the nation’s 250th anniversary. One liberty tree was placed in the Osceola Mills Public Square in a partnership with America250PA and the Pennsylvania Freemasons. Each ceremony is part of a multi-year initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
