Its Spring, so temperatures will continue to go up and down. Today we are back down with highs in the 50s. Then tomorrow, back to 70 degrees. If you want to figure out which day is warmer, or colder, just look at the wind direction. If it’s from the south to west. Likely warmer. North to East, then colder. The onshore breeze is keeping us chilly today. We will see sunny skies today, but tomorrow a cold front will move in during the afternoon bringing some rain with it.

The Midwest and the South have been affected by the severe storms for the past 24 to 48 hours. Now it’s our turn. Thankfully, we don’t have all of the ingredients available for widespread severe storms, but we could still see a few. This morning will be dry with increasing clouds, but expect the wind to pick up. We should see wind speeds at 10-20 mph this mid-morning, then by noon. We should see 20-30 mph wind speeds with gusts getting close to 40 mph.

We will see our temperatures climb to the 40s and even near 50 in a few spots today. That warmth will be with a bunch of sunshine for today and tomorrow. High pressure will keep our sunny pattern and warmer temperatures for the beginning of the week. The snow will mostly melt away from our yards today and tomorrow. The amount of snow we’ve seen this February is much higher than in years past. From this last storm alone, we had 11.0″ fall in Norfolk, where the records are kept.

(WAVY) — The heaviest snow has yet to fall. We should see snowfall rates of around 1 to 2 inches per hour as a zone of moisture and pushing in from Greenville, North Carolina into our area. At the same time, the area of low pressure is deepening offshore which is making this winter storm much stronger. This is the reason our totals should jump to 5 to 8 inches for most areas. Here’s a look at snow accumulations around the region as of just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

One of the biggest snowstorms in a long time is expected to bring us at least 5 inches of snow for the majority of the area. Starting with timing, this snow should get going around the mid to late morning on Wednesday. By noon we should be seeing areas with moderate to heavy snow falling. Then in the afternoon there will be heavy bands of snow developing across the Southside, North Carolina and occasionally for the Peninsula and Eastern Shore.
