A hit-and-run driver was found slumped over his steering wheel a few minutes after he struck and seriously injured a 16-year-old in Jackson on Tuesday, officials said. Luke J. Ferrante was driving north on South New Prospect Road at about 12:15 p.m. when he crossed over the white line onto a gravel sidewalk, striking the teen as he walked along the side of the road, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said. The teen was hospitalized in serious but stable condition with head injuries.

A man riding a horse through Riverside on Saturday morning helped police find a hit-and-run driver that struck a parked car. The man — who identified himself to police only as PJ — followed the car aboard his horse Shiny as the driver fled and was able to obtain a partial license plate, Riverside police said.

The $50,000 Powerball lottery ticket sold in New Jersey for Saturday’s drawing was purchased in Burlington County. The winner bought the third-prize ticket at News Agency on High Street in Burlington City, the New Jersey Lottery said. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball. Saturday’s winning numbers were: 1, 29, 37, 56 and 68. The Powerball drawn was 13 with a Power Play of 2x. Someone who bought a Powerball ticket in Los Angeles, California won the $205 million jackpot on Saturday night.
3 injured after boat slams into beacon in cove off Jersey Shore

Three people were injured Sunday night when a boat struck a day beacon in Trader’s Cove Marina in Brick, officials said. The crash happened near the Mantoloking Bridge just before 10:20 p.m., State Police said. One passenger was flown to an area hospital with moderate injuries while the operators and another person aboard suffered minor injuries. The Coast Guard dispatched a crew, which recovered an anchor, chain, and line wrapped around Intracoastal Waterway marker No 14.

A woman was killed and a man injured Monday afternoon when a car collided with a disabled shuttle bus on Route 22 in Bridgewater, authorities said. The westbound car drifted into the right shoulder and struck the unoccupied shuttle bus near the Acura dealership at about 3:20 p.m., Bridgewater police said. The car’s front-seat passenger, Jung Bang, 89, of Somerville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Student robbed by 3 men outside N.J. high school, police say

A student was assaulted and robbed in a parking lot outside Columbia High School in Maplewood on Monday morning, authorities said. Three men wearing masks approached the student in the parking lot on West Parker Avenue, struck him and stole $40 cash as well as a bookbag containing a laptop at about 8:20 a.m., Maplewood police said. The trio fled in a white Kia sedan with a broken passenger side window. Police found the vehicle unoccupied in Newark later in the day. The student was not injured.

A 67-year-old New Jersey man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Thursday in Pennsylvania, authorities said. Carlo Demarco was riding on Easton Turnpike in South Canaan Township in Wayne County at around 6:20 p.m. when he veered off the road while going around a curve, Pennsylvania State Police said. Demarco, of the Somerset section of Franklin Township in Somerset County, struck a traffic sign and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.
