A hit-and-run driver was found slumped over his steering wheel a few minutes after he struck and seriously injured a 16-year-old in Jackson on Tuesday, officials said. Luke J. Ferrante was driving north on South New Prospect Road at about 12:15 p.m. when he crossed over the white line onto a gravel sidewalk, striking the teen as he walked along the side of the road, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said. The teen was hospitalized in serious but stable condition with head injuries.

A man riding a horse through Riverside on Saturday morning helped police find a hit-and-run driver that struck a parked car. The man — who identified himself to police only as PJ — followed the car aboard his horse Shiny as the driver fled and was able to obtain a partial license plate, Riverside police said.

The $50,000 Powerball lottery ticket sold in New Jersey for Saturday’s drawing was purchased in Burlington County. The winner bought the third-prize ticket at News Agency on High Street in Burlington City, the New Jersey Lottery said. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball. Three people were injured Sunday night when a boat struck a day beacon in Trader’s Cove Marina in Brick, officials said. The crash happened near the Mantoloking Bridge just before 10:20 p.m., State Police said. One passenger was flown to an area hospital with moderate injuries while the operators and another person aboard suffered minor injuries. The Coast Guard dispatched a crew, which recovered an anchor, chain, and line wrapped around Intracoastal Waterway marker No 14.
