BUTLER — An error in Butler’s billing process to large industrial wastewater customers has been corrected. The issue has been resolved and funds are being collected, Clerk-Treasurer Angela Eck told the council Monday. “(It was) purely by accident because the mayor asked a question on something else, and I’m thinking, ‘Those numbers aren’t the same,’ so I did some digging,” Eck said.

ST. JOE — While cemeteries are places for the deceased to be buried, they are also sources of history. DeKalb County Historian Mary Hollabaugh Diehl considers cemeteries to be “outdoor museums” that hold stories about our ancestors as well as local history and changing burial practices. That’s why she believes it’s important to maintain existing cemeteries and to bring new life to cemeteries that have often been forgotten or fallen into disrepair.

AUBURN — Some city streets will have limited access or be closed when construction of The Auburn — a new four-story building on the site of the former Auburn Hotel — begins next month. Thursday, Assistant Police Chief Sean Miller presented a street closure request to the Auburn Board of Works from Auburn Development Group. ADG is asking that 9th Street between Main and Jackson streets be closed during construction, set to begin Monday, June 2 through approximately Oct. 31, 2026.
