AUBURN — The Auburn Common Council heard a tax increment finance (TIF) district management report Tuesday. Greg Balsano, from Baker Tilly municipal advisers, explained that a TIF management report is required to be filed by a community’s redevelopment commission by April 15 with the mayor, council and the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. A new requirement, enacted in 2024, stipulates that the report be presented at a council meeting.

AUBURN — The Auburn Board of Works approved several bids at Tuesday’s session. Among the approved items were bids for the S.R. 8 sidewalk improvements and sidewalk work along Old Brick Road. City Engineer Daryl McConnell announced that M.F. Projects LLC was the low bidder for S.R. 8 sidewalk improvements at $1,167,065. The Board of Works approved the contract, performance and payment bonds and notice to proceed. The notice to proceed will be issued upon receipt of the performance and payment bonds.

AUBURN — The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public in identifying any individuals and vehicles associated with an investigation at the Auburn Conservation Club located in the 2600 block of C.R. 50, within DeKalb County. The incidents occurred during the evening hours of April 13, 2025 and April 14, 2025, in which several individuals were captured on surveillance cameras on the property.

AUBURN — An Auburn home has been determined to be unsafe for occupancy. Tuesday, the Board of Works affirmed an order to vacate the home at 416 W. 7th St. The order was issued earlier this month by the Auburn Department of Building, Planning and Development. BPD Administrator Ryan Shambaugh provided a timeline report of site visits and photos of conditions found in the home. “With each of our visits, we discovered many unsanitary and unfit living conditions.

AUBURN — An inmate at the DeKalb County Jail has filed a civil lawsuit against the DeKalb County Jail. The lawsuit was filed Jan. 31 in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana. Inmate Devon Jordon Hypes, 36, listed several issues in a seven-page filing about living conditions, leaks, mold, issues with receiving medication and denial of legal documents being made available to himself or to his attorney. kAmwJA6D 92D 366?
