The Tigers have had several dramatic moments in Omaha that are part of their seven national championships. Coastal Carolina has one title. That came in 2016, and they can care less that LSU is going after its CWS championship.

LSU scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to win 6-5 as Arkansas had two chances to get the final out and failed to do so and the Razorbacks season comes to an end, while LSU will go play for their 8th national championship. Magic Moments: It looked like Arkansas was going to force a win or go home game on Thursday night after scoring two runs in the top of the ninth inning on a two-run single by Justin Thomas. It gave the Razorbacks a 5-3 lead.

The former long-time sheriff of Terrebonne Parish, Jerry Larpenter, has died. The sheriff’s office says Larpenter passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Larpenter was first elected in 1985 and served 21 years, he stepped away for one-term, and one was re-elected again in 2011 and 2015. He served as sheriff for about 30 years before current Sheriff Timothy Soignet replaced him in 2020. “I know I had big shoes to fill,” Soignet said.

Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart is fighting for his life after suffering a heart attack at his home yesterday. The 90-year-old from Ferriday is in intensive care at a Baton Rouge hospital. Swaggart is one of the most well-known televangelists and is the founder of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge. Spokeswoman Megan Kelly says Sunday was a difficult day.
