If the NBA playoff courts were a school playground, the Cavaliers would be the kid hesitant to leave his classroom out of fear that the school’s meanest bully would steal his lunch money. The Cavaliers were eliminated from the Eastern Conference semifinals by the Indiana Pacers on May 13 in part because the Pacers wore them down over five games. The Knicks did the same thing in 2023 in the quarterfinals. Ditto the Celtics in the 2024 semifinals.

As crushing defeats go, the Cavaliers, wiped out in the Eastern Conference semifinals in five games for the second straight year, feel like a grape run over by a semi trailer truck carrying a full load. The Cavaliers led the Pacers by 19 points in the second quarter in a game they had to win to stay alive May 13, but the Pacers turned the game around late in the second quarter and in the third to win, 114-105, and advance to the Eastern Conference finals for the second straight year.

The NFL is set to announce each team’s 2025 schedule May 14, but the league announced its slate of seven international games a day early. One of them involves the Browns. The Browns will be designated as the home team when they play the Vikings at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. It will be the first international game for the Browns since 2017 when, coincidentally, they played the Vikings and lost, 33-16, at Twickenham Stadium midway through their infamous 0-16 season.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah might never play football again. He definitely will not play in 2025. The Browns’ charismatic linebacker and the team’s second-best defender after Myles Garrett on May 12 was placed on the reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list because he is still dealing with the neck injury he suffered Oct. 27 last season trying to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry. The designation means he won’t play in the season ahead.

To anyone watching this #Oilers-#Knights 0-0 game with 15:40 left in the third period: IMO this is a great example of why low scoring games are more exciting than high scoring games.

Deja vu. The #Cavaliers have to get physically and mentally stronger after being eliminated by the #Pacers in five games, Coach Kenny Atkinson said after losing Game 5, 114-105. Three of the losses were at home. https://t.co/XC7pMAZaSm
