Spencer and I have some answers to your questions here. These were really thoughtful and lovely questions, as usual, from the Starship Casual clients. We really appreciate it, including the questions we couldn’t get to. OxO—JeffyAndrew: Wondering what it’s like traveling with your kid not as a family member, but as a fellow musician. Is the dynamic any different? JT: Not really. I think of Spencer as a fellow musician, on and off the stage, and on and off tour.

Here’s a quick cover of a new Bill Fox song. Great to have new music from one of my most reluctant heroes. Could only find a G harmonica so it’s in G, not A like Bill’s. By the way, someone at Apple hates harmonicas almost as much as Tom Schick. It sounds like a vampire harmonica trying to see itself in a mirror. I kind of like the audio effect, but it’s definitely discriminatory. Also, don’t come at Tom about his harmoniphobia. It’s a sensitive topic.

A.M., Wilco’s first record, turned 30 the other day. I forgot to mention it, so I thought I’d share a song from the album today, a solo acoustic version of “Should’ve Been in Love” I just recorded on my phone at The Loft. I’m not sure that I would write “stinking” in a song these days. Let alone three times. But I think it gets a point across. If your life’s been stinking, it’s been stinking.

Sammy, Spencer, and I are on our way to Charleston to join the rest of the Tweedy band, play Mountain Stage, and induct Daniel Johnston into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. In honor of Daniel, here are two versions of “Walking the Cow.” This is one of Daniel’s more well-known songs. It’s been covered by a few people.
