The courts were previously used as basketball courts, which the city converted for $120,000. BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — United Hospital Center (UHC) has officially been certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, meaning that it is now also the regional hub for treating strokes. Prior to the certification, stroke victims might have had to have been transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown to get treatment. Now, they can be treated at UHC.

(WBOY) — Vandalia Health and its affiliate Mon Health broke ground on its new Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospital at Charles Pointe Crossing in Bridgeport on Monday, beginning the next stage of a $30 million investment project. At the ceremony, the planned facility was compared in size and capability to the Mon Marion hospital in White Hall. Speakers also celebrated the medical care that would be brought to the area, as well as the jobs.

MICA said of the event on Facebook that they invited Senator Capito and Representative Moore and described the event as a “Town Hall with (or without) Our Representatives”. FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — Mugs N Mittens in Fairmont hosted an adoption event with the Marion County Humane Society on Saturday. The local cat cafe allows you to get a drink, including some specialty drinks named after the cats in residence, and spend time with some feline friends. Three cats that are up for adoption, Bill, Candace and Monroe, visited the shop today, mingling with the other cats and potential owners.
