CORE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Eighteen emergency crews responded to a brush fire in rural Monongalia County Friday afternoon that lasted until after dark. According to officials with the Monongalia County 911 Center, at about 2:39 p.m., crews were alerted to a brush fire near Smoky Run Road, near Core. Officials couldn’t confirm how large the fire became, but did say that crews were still on the scene at about 8:45 p.m., putting out hot spots.

JUNIOR, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man who has been missing since January was found dead in Barbour County on Tuesday. According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, on April 15, employees with Mon Power who were working on utility lines near Junior found human remains, which were later identified as Donald Hutzler, 63. Hutzler was last seen at his residence in Belington on Jan. 5, and his disappearance has been a subject of an investigation by the West Virginia State Police since Jan. 15.
