Touch of Keys Music Fine Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by E. Gordon Wright, recently hosted its 17th Annual Scholarship Award Gala at The Houston Club, located on the 49th floor at 910 Louisiana Street in downtown Houston. For 17 years, Touch of Keys has provided scholarships to high school graduates, summer enrichment music camp programs, and after-school music and fine arts programs throughout the Greater Houston area and surrounding counties.

This past week, a voter-approved referendum (Prop A), approved by Houston voters in November 2023, led to the renaming of a Houston Intercontinental Airport terminal after the late U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

When it comes to community empowerment, Self-Determination, and dedicated service to the community, there is no denying that the National Black United Front (NBUF) Houston Chapter has left an indelible mark on the Greater Houston area. In 1995, NBUF Houston made the bold move to purchase an abandoned house that had become a notorious “Crack House” and began the process of transforming it into their organization’s headquarters.
