Davenport senior Kinley Keller was locked in at the plate, doing damage early, often and in the biggest moments to lead the Wolves to a pair of victories last week. Now, she is the Express-News Athlete of the Week. The Mississippi State signee went 6 for 9 with two homers, eight RBIs and six runs scored in wins over Bandera (17-3) and Wimberley (16-13). One of those homers was a walk-off, three-run shot against Wimberley.

Harlan's Isaac Gloria delivered in a big way for the Hawks last week as he hit a walk-off home run in their 4-3 win over Taft. He added another home run a day later in a 5-4 non-district win over San Marcos and now has been voted the Express-News Athlete of the Week. The senior was named Express-News baseball player of the week Monday, and Hawks fans took over, helping him win the weekly poll over three fellow finalists.

Boerne senior Hudson McNew made everything look easy at the plate in a 20-3 win over Alamo Heights in District 26-5A action last week. The slugger went 4 for 4 and drove in nine runs, eye-popping stats by themselves, but the way he drove in those runs earned him Express-News Athlete of the Week.

KATY - What started as a trickle soon turned into a wave, one Southwest is riding all the way to the state championship game. The Dragons scored four second-half goals in a dominant 5-0 victory over Angleton in a Class 5A Division I boys soccer state semifinal Friday at Legacy Stadium. The victory sends Southwest to it first state title game appearance. "It's for (the players). We do everything for them. We're so happy," Southwest coach Juan Romero said.
