Public hearing held for CDBG applications

The Henry County commissioners recently held the second public hearing for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects. As part of the program, two public hearings are required, with the second one taking place after the application is developed but prior to submission to the Office of Community Development. Lorenzo Zamora of Maumee Valley Planning Organization (MVPO), which administers the programs for the county, explained the timeline.

ODOT update reviewed by HC commissioners

The Henry County commissioners recently received an update from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Patrick Dille, transportation administrator for the Henry County ODOT garage, shared maintenance projects planned for this year include an upgrade to Township Road 11. “We’ve got a turnaround, emergency turnaround out there, that’s in pretty poor condition,” he said. “We’re going to get that updated before the road gets paved.

State patrol investigates fatal off-road crash

GRAND RAPIDS — The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Henry – Lucas County Road near South River Road in Providence Township, Lucas County. According to the patrol, a 2018 Kawasaki KLX140 was northbound on Henry – Lucas County Road at approximately 12:06 a.m. Saturday, driven by Brayden Sadler, 18, of Grand Rapids, while a 2001 Honda TRX400EX was southbound on Henry – Lucas County Road, driven by Jack Rowland, 18, of Perrysburg.

The retirement resignation of Angiala Franz as music teacher was accepted, effective May 27, as well the resignation from an assistant vocal director supplemental contract. Franz served the district for 29 years.
Meals on Wheels driver awarded EMS Citizen Award

HAMLER — A Meals on Wheels driver was presented with a citizen award Friday at the Henry County South Joint Ambulance District. In honor of EMS Week, which was May 18 through today, Madison Moore was awarded an EMS Citizen Award. Henry County South Joint Ambulance District Director Scott Buddelmeyer shared Moore has twice summoned emergency services to the homes of Meals on Wheels clients.
