And right on schedule the stripers are moving right in.in the west and moving east with the best reports coming from Raritan, Jamaica and the western North Shore harbors. Remember, the regulations this year are 1 fish per person from 28 to 31 inches. The season will also run until December 15th. On the tog, fishing is improving a lot for boats fishing the South Shore reefs and wrecks.

    VIDEOTogging is beginning to pick up steam around the island. On the South Shore some of the headboats are seeing more productivity on wreck trips with mixed cod while up on the North Shore, a whopping 12-pounder came over the gunnel last week for a lucky angler! Some other scattered reports of tog in the 25 to 60-foot range also were reported from the Sound. Stripers are moving east on the island with fish to 33 inches making their way to the Northport area this week.
