Northeast Ohio has punched above its weight in helping Ukraine both before and since the 2022 Russian invasion. We host one of the world’s largest repositories of Ukrainian diplomatic and historic archives at the Ukrainian Museum-Archives in Tremont. The numerous faiths that make up the mosaic of the Ukrainian identity ceaselessly work to collect assistance for the Ukrainian war effort.

Since 2019, there have been over 50 documented cases of hacking in Ohio spanning public safety, local government, medical facilities and schools. Examples include Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Ohio State Veterinary Center, City of Twinsburg, Westlake Police Department, and Aurora City Schools. Much of the hacking involves Ransomware and payment in Bitcoin, and most of it can be traced to Russia.

Since 2017, Sandy Hassan has volunteered with her mosque, the West Cleveland Muslim Association (WCMA) in Westlake, helping community members, including newcomers to Cleveland, find jobs and housing. In November, she started doing this type of work professionally and took on a new title: Newcomer Navigator for the Arab community.
