Milford Public Schools is planning on making significant changes to its aging school buildings. Superintendent Anna Cutaia said the Milford Board of Education has been weighing different options as it relates to improving their school campuses. "It is a renovation, build new and possibly a consolidation plan, so we're thinking about all three of those things," Cutaia said.

The man accused of attempting to set his mother's home on fire appeared at Milford Superior Court for his first appearance on Tuesday. Theodore Lloyd, 27, faces a charge of attempted arson after West Haven police said they found evidence of paper trails and lighter fluid in Tina Lloyd's home in March, which later led to the discovery of her dismembered body in and around 14 bags of trash.

New Haven Police Wednesday announced an arrest in the January 2024 shooting death of a teenager. Police said they arrested 22-year-old Gabriyel Fraser and took him into custody on Monday. He is charged with murder in the death of 16-year-old Maleak Sweets, of New Haven. Sweets was shot on January 29, 2024 on Newhall St. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to police.

The City of New Haven celebrated the addition of two small businesses in New Haven's growing Westville neighborhood. Located at 910 Whalley Ave is the new Inkberry Art Shop and at 912 Whalley Ave is Malby Artisan Bread and Pastries. "InkBerry and Malby are exactly the kinds of businesses that we want in our city. They're family-owned, neighborhood-based, they offer creative and unique items and bring something special and different to the community," Mayor Justin Elicker said.
