    It took the Lyon County Lady Lyons just two and a half innings to knock off the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons 16-0 in the opening round of the 2025 Second Region softball All 'A' Classic Tuesday night in Eddyville. After a soggy spring break the Lady Lyons looked fresh and rested with their offense on full display.     The McCracken County Lady Mustangs are on a five-game winning streak after knocking off Lyon County 7-2 Thursday night at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville. The Lady Mustangs were the first on the board in the first when Savannah McDowell grounded out, scoring one run. McCracken County added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after back-to-back singles from McDowell and Addley Leidecker and Cami Cox’s sacrifice bunt each scored one run to give the Lady Mustangs a 4-0 advantage.

    The Lyon County baseball team has set themselves up against some tough talent across the state in preperation for a potential deep postseason run. Unfortunately for the Lyons, with tough competition, comes tough losses as they currently set on a 3-4 record. They have lost their last three games, two of which were in the Prep Baseball High School Invitational against Lexington Catholic and Taylor County.

    The Caldwell County Tigers are on a current hot streak, winning their last seven games for a 7-1 record. After dropping their first game of the season to Paducah Tilghman, 9-0, the Tigers have turned things around with their most recent win coming against Calloway County on Saturday, 9-1. Two of those wins include a pair of shutouts, 2-0 against Union County and 8-0 over Hopkins County Central.

    Our society is failing the seriously mentally ill. In the wake of the Bondi junction shopping centre attack, reporters expressed surprise that a person with a serious mental health illness could be living in cars and hostels. Ask anyone in mental health services they will tell you it’s common for people with serious mental illness to be on the road. This is not the fault of their families. Families are not mental health experts.
