    (KNSI) — Xcel Energy says it is continuing efforts to recover tritium that leaked into the ground beneath the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant following an equipment failure in late 2022. Tritium is a compound that emits low levels of radiation, is naturally present in the environment and is commonly created in the operation of nuclear power plants.

    (KNSI) — The National Weather Service says the St. Cloud area broke a weather record on Sunday. As of 7:45 p.m., the official daily high hit 93 degrees. The previous record was 90, which was set in 1900. The Twin Cities also set a record high of 90, beating the old one by two degrees. The hot weather will continue through Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s to around 90.

    (KNSI) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert for western and central Minnesota, including St. Cloud. The alert will be in effect from noon on Monday, May 12, through 9:00 p.m.High levels of ground-level ozone are expected during the afternoon and early evening hours. Sunny skies, warm temperatures, and low humidity will create ideal conditions for ozone formation. Ozone levels will be highest during the afternoon when sunshine is strongest and temperatures peak.

The Calvary Hill location includes a booster station, a ground storage reservoir and an elevated storage tank.     (KNSI) – Authorities are on the lookout for an escaped patient from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program in St. Peter. The St. Peter Police Department says it was discovered Beau-Jcob Edward Zimmer disappeared Friday morning just after 1:30. He is described as 45 years old, 6′ tall, 188 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, black tennis shoes with bright yellow accents.
