Lucid Group announced Friday it had won a bid to buy “select facilities and assets” previously held by hydrogen truck maker Nikola in a bankruptcy auction. The transaction doesn’t include Nikola’s business, customer base or technology related to its vehicles. Nikola first announced its bankruptcy last month shortly after offloading some of its battery assets to fellow EV manufacturer Mullen Automotive. The auction closed on April 10 as leaders sought a quick asset sale.

According to interim CEO Marc Winterhoff, Lucid Motors is quickly becoming more popular with one particular customer segment: Tesla owners. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, he said the company has seen a “clear” uptick of interest in its vehicles from Tesla buyers. “Tesla buyers always were the source of our sales because they were already used to using electrical drivetrains, and they look for an opportunity to have something else, something better," he said.

Freyr CEO Daniel Barcelo said he and his team “look forward” to building teams in Austin and the Dallas-suburb Wilmer during an announcement that they had selected Austin as the site for their new, global corporate headquarters. The state capitol, which Barcelo called a “vibrant and fast-growing hub” of renewable energy, is strategically located near Freyr’s existing solar module manufacturing facility in Wilmer—well, close by Texas standards.
