    In collaboration with the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG), we designed VITdALIZE-KIDS as a pragmatic, phase III, multicenter, individual patient 1:1 randomized double-blind superiority RCT. Our protocol adheres to the Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials (SPIRIT) checklist (see Additional file 1). A summary of the protocol is provided in Table 1.
