Data come from the Quebec City Case-Control Asthma Cohort (QCCCAC). It contains 1,585 French Canadian white subjects over 18 years of age with and without asthma. Details on data collection are given in [6]. The study protocol for the QCCCAC was approved by the Research Ethics Board of the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec – Université Laval (#20273). All participating subjects signed an informed consent approved by the REB.

AbstractA positive association between sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and diabetes risk has been shown, with inconsistent evidence between artificially sweetened beverages (ASBs) and diabetes. Moreover, it is uncertain if physical activity can mitigate the negative effects of these beverages on diabetes development. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the independent and joint associations between SSB or ASB consumption and physical activity on the risk of type 2 diabetes.

The fitness of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariants was determined in human epithelial and continuous cells of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Competition experiments over 4 days were performed followed by quantification of variant ratios by reverse transcription-droplet digital PCR. These quantitative data were correlated with whole genome sequencing.
