Deadly shooting in El Cajon park, 2 suspects at large

EL CAJON, Calif. — El Cajon Police confirmed with CBS 8 a man in his 40's was shot and killed around 9:45pm Sunday. The 1100 block of East Madison Avenue was still surrounded by crime scene tape Monday morning. The shooting happened in the Wells Park parking lot. El Cajon Police say the victim was transported to the hospital and later died. Officers added they are searching for two suspects.

ALPINE, Calif. — There's a little gem in Alpine you may not even know about. The San Diego Animal Sanctuary and Farm has more than 200 animals, and fresh produce you can buy weekly. "It is a beautiful place to work," Animal Keeper Travis Neill said. There are camels, zebra, bison, goats, pigs — even watusis, Africa's version of the Texas Longhorn. The majority of the animals are rescues.

Family, friends and other members of our military gathered to pay their respects and share memories at Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar. All five of the Marines were in their 20s. So many of them come from military families where becoming a Marine was a lifelong dream.

A WalletHub study analyzed cities with the most credit cards and found Chula Vista is in ninth place. SAN DIEGO — Homes in La Jolla are sliding off of their foundation after a sinkhole opened up on Gilman Drive, following a completely separate storm. Legal action is now mounting against the City of San Diego. There are 17 claims currently filed. They say a storm drain pipe broke in March 2023. Tropical Storm Hillary then hit in August, causing more damage. Repairs are still underway and it's set to be complete by spring. But it's now delayed because of more wet weather.
