Over the years, KFMB-TV News, or News 8, has consistently been the leading news source in the area. Viewers can tune in to local news broadcasts on weekdays at 4:30 a.m., 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. For weekend coverage, news is available at 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. Notably, KFMB-TV is the only station in San Diego that has remained affiliated with CBS since its inception.
