HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) charged a male driver following a road rage incident that occurred on Wednesday evening. HPD reported that just after 6 p.m. on May 7, an 18-year-old girl was parking her car on Halekauwila Street with her 35-year-old mom in the passenger seat. She reportedly saw a gray Tesla speeding past. The 18-year-old girl and the 39-year-old that was driving the Tesla exchanged words.

KAUAI, Hawaii (Island News) – Kauai firefighter crews respond to a brush fire in Koke’e near the junction of Koke’e Road and Waimea Canyon Drive on Wednesday morning. Officials reported that the fire was initially reported before 6 a.m. on Wednesday. As of 7 a.m., the estimated size of the fire was 2 acres. However, according to fire personnel, the blaze was growing.

The ME’s office identified the man as 76-year-old James Dix, originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. Officials reported that the cause and manner of Dix’s death remains pending at the moment. No further information has been provided at this time.

MAUI COUNTY, Hawaii (Island News) -- The Maui Police Department (MPD) announced on Wednesday, April 23, that 23-year-old Lainaala Funk was found in good health. This comes after police announced that they needed help to locate Funk who was last seen at the Maui Marketplace on Tuesday. Funk was reported missing on April 22 by concerned family members after she didn't contact them for several weeks. MPD would like to thank the public for their assistance in this search.

EWA BEACH, Hawaii (Island News) – Honolulu police arrested a man in Ewa Beach after he refused to turn over his guns which led to a brief barricade incident on Wednesday morning. The 49-year-old suspect was arrested at 11:30 a.m. on April 16 for not handing over his firearms. The guns were ordered to be obtained by a judge and court issued restraining order. The incident caused a closure on Kaileolea Drive between Kaiee Street and Kapolei Parkway due to the investigation.

KAHULUI, Hawaii (Island News) – Officials identified the pedestrian that died in a collision that occurred on Kahului Beach Road on Friday, April 11. The pedestrian was identified as 28-year-old Tory Nabu from Kahului on Sunday, April 13. The traffic incident was approximately a fourth of a mile northwest of Kaahumanu Avenue in Kahului.

KALIHI, Hawaii (Island News) – The Honolulu Fire Department classified a Kalihi house fire that was reported on April 5, as incendiary. HFD Investigators reported that the origin of the fire came from the third floor. The Accelerant Detection Canine Team alerted Officials of the presence of an ignitable liquid near the third floor. The fire caused $18,000 in property damage and its contents.

HONOLULU (Island News) -- Police arrested a 52-year-old man in connection to an assault incident that took place in the Iwilei area on Thursday night. According to HPD highlights, a 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old man got into a verbal argument that escalated to the 52-year-old allegedly stabbing the victim one time in the torso. Police located, identified, and arrested the 52-year-old man for Assault in the Second Degree at 9:11 p.m. the same day.
