    HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) resolved an apparent barricade situation on Sand Island on Sunday. HPD reported that the barricade situation has been resolved and that a man was arrested for attempted murder and terroristic threatening by 2:20 p.m.In a press conference following the incident, Police Chief Logan said that the suspect involved, had received critical injuries and later died. The medical examiner identified the suspect as 37-year-old Christian Latimore.

    SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (Island News) – The U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii and federal firefighters battled a major brush fire that was reported at Schofield Barracks on Monday. Two helicopters dropped more than 181,000 gallons of water to try and put out the fire. The fire broke out at the Barracks Range Complex and crews fought the fire from the ground and the air. Firefighters have contained the fire at approximately 70% as of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. The fire has burned more than 600 acres.

    KAHULUI, Hawaii (Island News) – The Maui Fire Department took out a brushfire near the Kahului Airport that caused its runways to temporarily close on Wednesday morning. According to a Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) alert, an active brush fire was reported in the area of Haleakala Hwy and Lelepio Place. Firefighters responded to an alarm at 10:18 a.m. on May 28 for a fire located in the fields east of Kahului Airport.

    NANAKULI, Hawaii (Island News) – A man was arrested and charged by police for an attempted murder in the Nanakuli area on Wednesday night. Police highlights indicated that a 33-year-old man allegedly struck a 22-year-old man at approximately 11:49 p.m. on May 15. The incident resulted in the 22-year-old man getting injuries to his legs and lower abdomen. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the 22-year-old man to a hospital in serious condition.

    HONOLULU (Island News) – A man was arrested in connection to a weapons incident that was near N. Beretania and Richards Street on Wednesday morning. A 28-year-old man was arrested just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. He faces a second-degree reckless endangering offence. The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) responded to the scene around 9:48 a.m. after reports of gunfire. Reportedly the incident involved a dispute between a man and a woman.
