Recent Argonaut High School graduate Seth Mitchell will represent Mustangs’ green and gold one more time on the football field when he plays in the 2025 Lions 4-A1 All-Star Game at 7 p.m. this Saturday, June 21 at Tracy High School. One of the longest-running all-star football games in California, the Lions Game features graduates of the current school year selected from high schools located within the eight county Central California area that make up Lions District 4A-1.

Kobie Pettis found a home back at home. In her first year as the head coach of the Argonaut High School varsity softball team, Pettis guided the program that she once starred in as a player to a 24-6 overall record, a second place finish in the Mustangs’ first year in the Sierra Valley Conference (SVC), and the third Sac-Joaquin Section softball championship in school history.

A pair of players from each of the Amador and Argonaut varsity high school baseball teams was recognized for standout play in their first seasons competing in the Sierra Valley Conference (SVC). Amador juniors Sam Baker and Brad Blankenheim, and Argonaut senior Marcus Scaife and junior Jacob Teravskis were all voted by coaches around the league to the all-SVC team. A first team all-Mother Lode League selection as a sophomore in 2024, Baker continued his outstanding play this spring in the SVC.

At the end of a high school career that will go down as the greatest for any thrower in Amador High School history, Eliot Traxler had one more in him. At the 2025 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 31 at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Traxler shook off what had previously been a sub-par performance by his own lofty standards with the biggest discus throw of his record-setting career on his final throw as a high schooler.

Amador High School junior Kris Mittelstadt has been selected to represent California in a wrestling cultural exchange program from June 30 to July 9 in Japan. Run through USA Wrestling, the exchange program will give Mittelstadt the opportunity to travel to Japan along with other high school wrestlers from the United States and practice and compete with and against wrestlers from Japan.
