EDEN, N.C. — Four people were killed and another four were injured after a devastating crash in Eden on Thursday, April 24, according to the NC State Highway Patrol. Troopers said that around 1:30 p.m., Michael Ray Vernon, 66, drove a City of Eden dump truck north on Carroll St. when he failed to stop at the stop sign on the intersection with Church St. As he traveled through the intersection, troopers said he hit six linemen working on the powerlines for Carolina Power and Signalization.

EDEN, N.C. — Multiple people are dead after a crash in Eden on Thursday, according to the state highway patrol. Eden police said the crash happened around 1:30 at the intersection of Church Street, Carroll Street, and Park Road. Duke Energy confirmed that some of its contractors were involved in the incident, but it is unclear if any of its staff were among the deceased or injured. When they arrived at the scene, they noticed that a City of Eden vehicle was involved in a deadly crash.
