LINCOLN — For the fourth consecutive year, Bridgeport came with a trophy from the girls state basketball tournament. After a loss Lincoln Christian in the Class C1 semifinals, the Bulldogs gutted out a 36-32 win over Grand Island Central Catholic on Saturday afternoon to finish third in the division. It marked the second straight year Bridgeport has won the consolation game. The Bulldogs also have a second and fourth-place finish at state in C2 over the past four years.

KEARNEY — A stifling defensive effort powered the Bridgeport boys basketball team to a dominating 42-23 win over defending state champs Freeman on Saturday afternoon. With the victory in the Class C2-7 district final, the Bulldogs (21-5) advanced to the state tournament for the third time in the last six years and second in four seasons under head coach Sean Sterkel. Bridgeport held the Falcons to a season low in points and 24 under their season scoring average.

BRIDGEPORT — For a fourth straight year, the Bridgeport girls basketball team is statebound. The Bulldogs punched their most recent ticket to Lincoln with a 67-49 win over Gordon-Rushville in the C1-7 district final on Friday night . With the victory, Bridgeport improved to 25-0 and will open play in the state tournament on Thursday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The official C-1 bracket will be released Saturday night. The Bulldogs finished fourth in 2021, second in 2022, and third last year.

BRIDGEPORT — For the seventh straight year, the Bridgeport boys basketball team will play for a trip to the state,The host Bulldogs closed in on a tournament berth with a 55-27 win over Kimball in the C2-12 boys basketball subdistrict final on ThursdayThe Bulldogs, who improved to 20-5 on the season, outscored the Longhorns 22-2 in the fourth quarter to break things wide open and never looked back.

BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport and Kimball boys basketball teams cruised into the championship game of the Class C2-12 subdistrict tournament with convincing semifinal wins Tuesday. The top-seeded Bulldogs rolled to a 65-7 win over Gordon-Rushville, while second-seeded Kimball earned a 51-38 victory over Morrill. Bridgeport and Kimball will meet for the title on Thursday at 6 p.m.Bridgeport, which has won six straight sub-district titles, moved out to a 44-0 lead the break.
